Survive The Night Tower Tier List for an Established Defense
Use a Survive The Night editorial attacker tier list to compare Mortar, Flamethrower, Cannon and Crossbow by threat role, reach and opening value.
This Survive The Night tower tier list prioritizes attacking choices for expanding an already functioning house defense. Its editorial grades favor a distinct heavy-damage role, then close damage and regular projectile investment; Crossbow remains the first-build recommendation.
Attacker Tiers for an Established Defense
The comparison uses four actual attacking towers and the same question for each: what does this purchase add after the opening is running? It is a role-based ordering, not a measured DPS table or a developer ranking.
Medical Base is deliberately separate because it heals the door. Turret provides steady rapid fire, but this compact preview focuses on the four attackers with the clearest opening, reach and heavy-target distinctions. Use the broader tower comparison when considering all six roles.
Why the Four Grades Differ
| Editorial tier | Reason | When it helps |
|---|---|---|
| S — Mortar | High single-hit; strongest-enemy targeting | Consider for heavier threats |
| A — Flamethrower | Higher Crossbow-relative damage; shorter range | Use when close reach fits |
| B — Cannon | Cost-effective projectile role | Consider regular damage value |
| C — Crossbow | Baseline ranged single-target starter | Keep for opening and useful upgrades |
Mortar earns S in this expansion scope for high single-hit damage and strongest-enemy targeting. Flamethrower earns A for higher damage than Crossbow, with shorter range making placement important. Cannon earns B as a cost-effective projectile choice. Crossbow earns C for its baseline role after the opening, while retaining its value as the starter.
The lower expansion grade is not a command to remove Crossbow. Your current attacker may already cover the doorway effectively, and improving it can be more practical than changing the whole layout. A grade is useful only when its reason matches the threat you face.
When the Opening Changes the Priority
If you are claiming the first house, build the Crossbow opening before pursuing a high-tier expansion choice. If your layout cannot support short reach, Flamethrower's A grade is not a reason to force it into a poor position. When one heavy enemy dominates the entrance fight, Mortar's specialized role becomes more relevant.
Door healing remains a separate decision. Add in-range Medical Base support when sustain is the missing job, and keep attackers removing the enemies responsible for damage. Higher upgrades can require a door-tier investment first.
Use situational choices to turn the ordering into a next purchase, rather than treating every tier as a universal spending rule.
